I still remember my Italian friend Lia who arrived approximately at the same time as I did in Azerbaijan. She left a few months before me and, back then, she shared with us a hard truth: « Guys, I will miss you, but I will miss Azerbaijani breakfasts even more ». But how could we be upset. It’s so good!

There are multiple places where you can try Azerbaijani breakfast, depending on your mood, your budget or just your personal taste in general. Here is my selection! Bon appétit!

The comfortable : Central Baku

Brunch in Central Baku is and will stay my top top top favorite forever for Azerbaijani breakfast. It’s where I experienced it the first time, and also where I said goodbye to my dearest friends in Azerbaijan over breakfast. The food is great, the place is nice, the service is really good and it’s so easy to chose: Baku breakfast for 3. And it comes with unlimited tea!

The authentic : Qayana

Qaynana means « stepmother » in Azerbaijani and she’s a character of a famous local comedy. Located in the old town, it is one of the only restaurant where people will not try to make you come in by showing you the menu outside or calling you on the street. No, Qaynana is already full of people, they don’t need to ask you to come in! There you will find a wide choice of dishes for breakfast but also national food for lunch or dinner. Service is premium, prices are cheap, and the decoration is absolutely fantastic. This place is highly recommended for all meals.

The artistic : 27sq Gallery

Also located in the old town, Tarana and her 27 square meters gallery will welcome you every weekend for breakfast, but also pottery or painting workshops. There you will be able to enjoy a very cosy breakfast surrounded by a local artistic environment. All products are fresh and Tarana will gladly present them to you. Don’t forget to book because there is only 27 square meters!

The luxurious : Four Seasons

If you really want to feel luxurious or to impress someone, you can always go to Four Seasons hotel during the week-end : it’s a all-you-can-eat buffet with all kind of dishes for « only » 70 manats. Not really Azerbaijani to be honest but definitely tasty with its fresh orange juice, pancakes and poached eggs. Pricy but definitely enjoyable! And there is even an option with unlimited cocktails… 😉

The viewy : Cay Evi 145

Finally, last but not least, in Cay Evi 145, you will have the best view to enjoy your breakfast. They serve a very typical Azerbaijani breakfast, nothing more, nothing less, on the top floor of a 6 floors building. The windows allow you to see until the sea and to explore the rooftops of Baku old Town. You can also book your own private room for your group of friends or family!
